Trae Waynes won’t suit up for the Cincinnati Bengals against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.

Friday, the team announced Waynes and wideout Trenton Irwin got moved to the reserve/COVID-19 list.

While Eli Apple is the start over Waynes while he gets his feet back under him, it’s still a notable blow to depth as the Bengals defense gets ready to tackle Patrick Mahomes.

Waynes has appeared in just four games this season. He missed all of last year with an injury after signing a three-year deal worth $42 million in free agency.

Besides this placing obvious strain on the cornerback room on Sunday with the AFC North at stake, this looks like more affirmation the Bengals will opt out of Waynes’ final year this upcoming offseason.
