Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals start their journey together in Week 1 with a visit from the Los Angeles Chargers.
And oddsmakers in control of NFL odds aren’t too excited.
The first Week 1 NFL odds of the Burrow era feature the Bengals listed as three-point underdogs to against those Tyrod Taylor-led Chargers at BetMGM.
It’s a little surprising given the extent of the travel the Chargers have to do for the matchup, never mind the fact they’re also starting over at quarterback after a down season.
Still, while the Bengals defense should put plenty of pressure on Taylor, Joey Bosa and the Chargers defense should do the same to a question mark of an offensive line in front of Burrow.
The reality is simple: Both teams underwent major changes and didn’t have a preseason to work through the changes. That’ll happen on the fly Sunday in what could be a pretty sloppy game early (keep in mind officials haven’t had much summer work either).
Either way, the Bengals as underdogs here aren’t the worst bet of the week given the talent of the defense and the sheer number of weapons around Burrow.
