Bengals host former Patriots captain for workout on Tuesday

A former Patriots Super Bowl champion is visiting the Bengals for a workout

Former New England Patriots defensive captain Lawrence Guy worked out for the Cincinnati Bengals on Tuesday, according to a report from NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

Guy, who was a team captain in 2020, was an integral part of the Patriots defense for seven seasons. He signed as a free agent with the team in 2017 and had 110 regular season appearances for the organization. All told, he recorded 379 tackles and 37 quarterback hits in his time with the Patriots.

Guy most recently worked out for the Baltimore Ravens back in August. However, he did not sign with the organization.

This could be an opportunity for Guy to reassert himself as one of the most dependable defensive linemen in the NFL. It would be quite the opportunity for him to do so with a potential Super Bowl contender.

The Bengals could certainly use the help up front considering the Patriots were able to rack up 185 total rushing yards against them in the season-opening matchup.
