In recent years, we’d wait until about now to start outlining how the Cincinnati Bengals look in the upcoming draft order.
In 2019, the team started 0-11 and followed that up with a 1-5-1 start in 2020, so the approach made sense — the Bengals were a threat to take the No. 1 pick both years.
Not so much this year.
The Bengals are 4-2 entering their first Baltimore week this Sunday and going by Tankathon’s metrics, slot 29th in the draft order.
Talk about a change.
The Bengals obviously won’t remain that low in the draft order unless they keep winning, but they do indeed hold the top wild card playoff spot as of this writing and this weekend’s game against the Ravens will be for temporary supremacy of the AFC North.
Picking lower in the draft order is unfortunate, but fans will surely take the big tradeoff that is winning and looking like a playoff contender, right?
