The Cincinnati Bengals have been busy ahead of the 2020 NFL draft and included in the unorthodox draft process is a meet with Alabama edge rusher Terrell Lewis.
According to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle, the Bengals are one of the teams Lewis has held video conferences with after in-person visits were nixed.
Presumably, Lewis would’ve had an in-person visit with the Bengals after they got a look at him at both the Senior Bowl and combine.
Lewis, 6’5″ and 262 pounds, is generally considered a fringe first-round pick but as Wilson shares, ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. is happy to see the Alabama star could stand up in a 3-4 base or man the edge of four-man fronts.
Cincinnati showing massive interest in edge prospects isn’t much of a shocker. It has been a point of emphasis for upgrade this offseason, especially as Lou Anarumo implements more multiple looks without technically employing a base defense.
Lewis would join an increasingly versatile unit on the edge capable of dropping back or applying pressure from all over the place. If he somehow makes it to No. 33, keep him in mind.
