Bengals fans should hope Joe Burrow pulls a Baker Mayfield on Tuesday

Bengals fans have to hope Burrow has a Baker-type play ready.

Want all the noise to stop?

Better hope Joe Burrow goes all Baker Mayfield at the scouting combine on Tuesday when it comes to the Cincinnati Bengals.

Back in 2018, Mayfield hit the combine interview process with media and proclaimed himself the guy capable of fixing the Cleveland Browns.

Burrow doing much of the same Tuesday during his meet with the media would push aside many of the silly narratives that have gone national early in the draft process.

To this point, Burrow has respectfully kept his answers about the draft vague. He’s coached to do so and he isn’t lying — he’s merely honored to be considered for the first pick. He hasn’t specifically said he’d like to play for the Bengals though — technically — which has given take-makers some wiggle room to make extraordinary takes.

While Burrow saying he’d like to the play for the Bengals wouldn’t squash every bit of speculation, it’d go a long way toward silencing the idea he doesn’t want to play for his hometown team.

And rest assured one thing — the Bengals questions will be front and center, if not first when Burrow hits the podium Tuesday.

In this regard, at least, Bengals fans better hope Burrow is like Mayfield.
