Cincinnati Bengals fans don’t get a nod in a new piece examining the most worthy fanbases deserving of a Super Bowl win in 2020.

Over at NFL.com, names like Nate Burleson and Joe Thomas outlined some of the fanbases who deserve a Super Bowl the most and the usual suspects come up — but not the Bengals.

NFL.com’s analysts named the Arizona Cardinals due to Larry Fitzgerald and teams like the New York Jets, Detroit Lions and Jacksonville Jaguars.

One could easily argue the Bengals and their dedicated fanbase have just as much right to be on any list. The Fitzgerald comment is especially interesting because A.J. Green falls into a similar boat.

Bengals fans have stuck with the team through the doldrums of the 90s, then had a No. 1 pick eventually retire rather than play for the team, then hit some ups and downs in the Andy Dalton era with no playoff wins. All that while the organization lagged behind most of the league in certain areas, including the approach to roster building.

While Bengals fans might like to make a list such as this, they’ll probably settle for beginning a new era with Joe Burrow. And as far as items that motivate the team as underdogs goes, throw it on the pile.
