Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Wyatt Hubert announced his retirement from football as he heads into his second pro season.
Hubert, a seventh-round pick out of Kansas State in 2021, missed his entire rookie season due to a pec injury and was on the mend this summer before making the announcement.
The social media message shared by Hubert the day after Cincinnati’s preseason-opening loss against the Arizona Cardinals detailed Hubert’s physical health as the main reason for his stepping away from the game.
Hubert had a shot at making the final roster in 2022 given a quality pass-rush was one of the team’s major needs this offseason but he’s admirably stepped back and prioritized things.
