Bengals coaches expect Myles Murphy to make an immediate impact

Myles Murphy will be in the rotation for the Bengals right away.

Unlike Dax Hill last year, the Cincinnati Bengals will get some major usage out of first-round pick Myles Murphy right away.

After making Murphy the 28th pick in the draft, Bengals defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo told Marisa Contipelli of the team’s website the following: “He’ll be in the rotation right away.”

Bengals head coach Zac Taylor made it sound like this was a best-case scenario for the team, too, per Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic: “This wasn’t a scenario we thought was going to play out for us, to be quite honest.”

While Hill hardly got to break into the starting rotation due to Jessie Bates, Murphy plays a spot more prone to rotational work. He’s a very long-term fit, too, but he’ll see the field quite a bit more. On paper, his ability to soak up snaps while others rest will make those others better, too.
