Bengals cap space update after playoff exit

How much cap space do the Bengals currently have for free agents, draft picks and extensions?

After a trip to the AFC title game, the Cincinnati Bengals enter the 2023 offseason with a top-six number in free cap space.

According to Spotrac, the Bengals currently rank 6th at an estimated $35.7 million in cap space. This is after the NFL dramatically bumped the salary cap for next season.

While the number might not seem like the biggest, especially when it doesn’t factor in a rookie draft class, it’s a bit of space that could still grow. Roster cuts and/or restructures, if the front office actually does the latter, could create even more space.

Keep in mind something like Joe Burrow’s upcoming extension won’t majorly impact the 2023 cap, with the big hits going to future years and immediate cash payout.

Finding a way to fit bringing back some of their own free agents and possibly adding outsiders from the market is a trickier subject. Still, the Bengals are much better off financially than most teams in the league right now and can always make more room or get creative with contract structures to make it work.
