As always with 2020 NFL mock drafts, Cincinnati Bengals picks after Joe Burrow are more interesting than the first overall pick.
Not that Burrow isn’t interesting. But he’s inevitable in Cincinnati along with all the good that brings. What’s more interesting now is the rookie class that will be arriving alongside him.
Chad Reuter of NFL.com’s new four-round mock draft gets the Burrow blurb out of the way first:
“Burrow’s confidence and the presumed return of A.J. Green via the franchise tag could give the Bengals some hope for the first time in a while.”
It then goes into some interesting territory for the other three picks:
- Second Round: Zack Baun – LB
- Third Round: Isaiah Wilson – OT
- Fourth Round: Darnay Holmes – CB
Baun is the biggest win here. It’s getting harder to imagine he even makes it to the second round, which should speak to what a value he’d be.
Compared to Clay Matthews by NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein, Baun is a do-it-all type who would be one of the better outright fits in the Cincinnati system.
Isaiah Wilson and Darnay Holmes aren’t bad picks either though, as the former could compete for a job right away and the latter further reinforces a position the Bengals are intent on completely rebuilding.
Or to summarize, this is close to an A-graded haul and one of the better-case scenarios.
