A high-stakes lightweight fight between [autotag]Beneil Dariush[/autotag] and [autotag]Charles Oliveira [/autotag]is on tap for October.
MMA Junkie today verified with multiple people close to the situation that Dariush (19-4-1 MMA, 13-4-1 UFC) and Oliveira (29-8 MMA, 17-8 UFC) have agreed to an Oct. 3 matchup following an initial report from AG Fight. The people requested anonymity because UFC has yet to make an official announced.
The Oct. 3 event has not officially been announced by the UFC, but it expected to take place at Yas Island in Abu Dhabi.
Dariush is currently the owner of a five-fight winning streak, including finishes in his past four. He’s coming off a highlight-reel spinning backfist knockout of Scott Holtzman at UFC on ESPN+ 32 this month, but he failed to get a performance bonus because he missed weight.
Still, though, Dariush get a big fight with Oliveira, who is riding a six-fight winning streak of his own, all of which have been by finish. The Brazilian most recently competed in March when he locked up a submission victory over Kevin Lee.
The latest lineup for UFC’s Oct. 3 event includes:
- Germaine de Randamie vs. Julianna Pena
- Andrei Arlovski vs. Tanner Boser
- Jinh Yu Frey vs. Loma Lookboonmee
- Yorgan De Castro vs. Carlos Felipe
- Beneil Dariush vs. Charles Oliveira
