The Philadelphia 76ers are led by one of the game’s bright young stars in Ben Simmons. He can do so many different things out on the basketball court and he does those things at an elite level.

There is a reason why he was named to both an All-NBA Team and an All-Defensive Team.

The one sore spot in his game that stands out the most in today’s era is his lack of a jump shot. He has only made two 3-pointers in his career and the lack of a jumper is something that has seemed to stop the team in its tracks at times.

As they prepare for the 2020-21 season, coach Doc Rivers says that he is not worried about Simmons’ shot and that winning is the most important stat that matters. Simmons agreed with that statement.

“It’s important to make shots, but it’s more important to win so however the win happens, it happens,” said the star guard. “I know Doc and Sam (Cassell) are going to put me in the right positions to do that and be dominant so I’m just looking forward to getting out there and seeing what they have to offer in terms of my situation on the floor and where I’m going to be.”

For Simmons, it’s all about floor spots. The two triples he has made in his career came from the corner spot. With that being said, he is probably most comfortable in that floor spot from deep.

That means it will be on Rivers as well as assistant coaches like Sam Cassell to put him in the right spot.

“It’s just that putting me in the right positions and me playing off it and going with the flow of the game and playing my game,” Simmons added.

The important part is, the team did acquire a lot of shooters to surround both he and Joel Embiid that should put the team in a much better position moving forward. That should make an impact on both players and the team as a whole as they go into the season. They had success with shooters in the past.

“I think a lot of people forget that too,” the All-Star finished with. “We had a stretch where we went on a 16-game winning streak to end a season. I’m excited to be with this team, especially with the new additions, I think it’s going to be a much faster pace. We’ve got more threats from outside so I’m really looking forward to it.” [lawrence-related id=39841,39838,39832]
