Ben Simmons, Jared Dudley now on good terms after playoff drama

Philadelphia 76ers guard Ben Simmons and Los Angeles Lakers forward Jared Dudley are now on good terms.

The playoff series between the Philadelphia 76ers and the Brooklyn Nets in April of 2019 will be remembered fondly by Sixers fans as Philadelphia finished them off in five quick games. However, there was one moment that sticks out in everybody’s mind.

Then-Nets forward Jared Dudley criticized All-Star Ben Simmons saying he was just “average” in half-court play. Simmons then fired back by shrugging off the comments as if it was coming from a lesser source.

Dudley, now with the Los Angeles Lakers, joined ESPN’s Zach Lowe on The Lowe Post Podcast and he says the two are now on good terms. He recalled an interaction with him over the summer as the two were filming Space Jam 2 with LeBron James.

Dudley said:

Our relationship was never bad. Summertime, when LeBron was having a Space Jam filming at 6 a.m. we had workouts. Ben Simmons came up to me and dapped me up and said, ‘What’s good? How you been?’

Things like this are never pretty and they normally end in an ugly manner, but it is good to see both players move on from the incident. Simmons is out indefinitely right now and he will probably miss the team’s next matchup with the Lakers on March 3 in Los Angeles. [lawrence-related id=26466,26459,26441]
