We are all living in a world where social isolation has become the norm, most sports have been shuttered and even our beloved NFL is in jeopardy. But if you needed something to get you excited, I give you the interview Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger did with Post-Gazette writer Ron Cook. Roethlisberger made it very clear he’s feeling better than ever and has full confidence he’s going to come back and play well in 2020.
“I have no doubts I’m going to be able to come back and play well — none,” Roethlisberger said. “I have complete confidence in that. I’m throwing without pain for the first time in years. Some games, I would have a little pain. Some games, I would have a lot of pain.”
This is tremendous news and has to get you excited for the upcoming season, whenever that may be. The Steelers nearly made the playoffs last season with Devlin Hodges and Mason Rudolph playing quarterback. It’s hard to imagine how good this offense will be with a healthy Roethlisberger. Keep in mind, Big Ben led the league in passing yards just two seasons ago.
Roethlisberger also offered a bit of insight on the workouts he’s doing now.
“Right now, it’s about 40 throws a day and about 20 yards,” Roethlisberger said. “I throw from my knees and I throw flat-footed. It’s mainly just about getting my spin back.”
We all understand there are bigger issues in the world right now than Roethlisberger’s elbow but if this doesn’t get you hyped for the upcoming season, I don’t know what will.
