Is haircut-gate really a thing?

The big Pittsburgh Steelers news this week has been Ben Roethlisberger’s self-declaration that he is making NFL-caliber throws. Roethlisberger put out a video of himself throwing to several teammates including wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster followed up with a haircut and beard trim per Roethlisberger’s deal when he was injured.

Roethlisberger said he wouldn’t cut his hair or shave until he was able to make his normal throws to his teammates. So once he made the throws he went to see his friend Carlos Norman and Norman’s Cuttin Edge barbershop and got himself cleaned up.

This ruffled plenty of feathers with the existing stay-at-home order and it made its way all the way up to Pennsylvania governor Tom Wolf who voiced concern over if Roethlisberger and Norman violated the order.

The situation reached a new level of absurdity when Norman was forced to release a statement about the incident via his attorney.

It is ridiculous this is even news, much less that some people are actually upset about it. The fact is guys like Roethlisberger are going to get special treatment. Just because you cannot get out and get a haircut yet doesn’t mean those rules apply to everyone. Let’s all take a breath and just be happy this team’s franchise quarterback is back.
