Ben McLemore working to increase respirators for COVID-19 hospitals

Rockets guard Ben McLemore is working to improve the availability of N95 respirator masks for hospitals fighting the coronavirus pandemic.

Through his foundation and a partnership with manufacturer C3 International, Houston Rockets guard Ben McLemore is working to increase the availability of N95 respirator masks for hospitals in need.

“The Kevin McLemore foundation and I have been working to find ways to best support COVID-19 relief efforts and to direct our resources where we can make a difference,” McLemore wrote on Instagram. “We have identified a critical shortage of N95 respirator masks.”

Kevin McLemore was Ben’s younger brother, who passed away in October 2018. The message continues:

My management and I have partnered with manufacturer C3 International, who has stepped up to fill the critical void of N95 respirator masks. We have initiated plans to purchase masks and donate them to hospitals in need. As we are limited to the amount of hospitals we can help, C3 International has graciously offered to provide these masks to any person or facility in need at manufacturer cost.

Together, now anyone who needs N95 medical grade, FDA approved masks will have access to them. If you know of any medical facility or professional in dire need of these masks, please e-mail Angel Morales at Angel@c3mail.com. If you are still unable to purchase at cost (medical providers), please e-mail Hazem Al-Gibaly at HA@SultanGroup.tv, and we will do our best to serve you as well. With Love, Ben McLemore

According to The New York Times, data as of Wednesday morning showed 53,934 U.S. cases of COVID-19, including 728 deaths.

Earlier this week, McLemore called on fans to take social distancing seriously as it pertains to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. “Stay safe and remain vigilant so that we can get back to the lives we miss,” McLemore wrote in a message to his followers.

Now 27 years old and in his seventh NBA season, McLemore has been an on-court revelation for the Rockets (40-24) this season — averaging 9.8 points in 22.8 minutes per game, including a 39.5% accuracy rate on 3-pointers. That’s the team’s best among consistent rotation players, and he’s already under contract with the Rockets for next season.
