Former Tennessee pitcher Ben Joyce made his Major League Baseball debut Monday with the Los Angeles Angels.
Joyce pitched one inning versus the White Sox, recording two strikeouts, while allowing one hit and zero walks.
Los Angeles defeated the White Sox, 6-4, at Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago, Illinois.
Joyce played for the Vols from 2021-22. He did not play in 2021 due to rehabbing from offseason surgery.
Joyce appeared in 27 games and started one contest in 2022 for Tennessee. He had a 2-1 record, while totaling 53 strikeouts in 32.1 innings pitched during the 2022 campaign.
The former Vol was selected by the Angels in the third round of the 2022 Major League Baseball draft (No. 89 overall). He earned a bachelor’s degree in finance at Tennessee.
He played at Walters State Community College from 2019-20 before transferring to Tennessee. Joyce played at Farragut High School in Farragut, Tennessee.
