Belief is that Paul George doesn’t want to leave West Coast for Sixers

There is a belief that Paul George doesn’t want to leave the West Coast which affects the chase for the Philadelphia 76ers.

The Philadelphia 76ers are searching for a third max player to join Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey in the 2024 offseason. President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey has set the team up in a great position due to the cap space he has been able to create.

The big target for the Sixers has been Los Angeles Clippers star Paul George. Philadelphia requires wing players who can produce on both ends of the floor and George is one of the best in the game as he is an All-Star player form that position.

However, there has been a bit of a song and dance between George and the Clippers. There have been reports that state the Sixers don’t have interest in him anymore while there is a thought process that George could opt into his player option and force a trade out of LA a la James Harden with the Sixers in 2023.

ESPN’s Brian Windhorst has another theory on “The Hoop Collective”:

I’m not so sure Paul George really wanted to leave the West Coast. I think that was something that Philadelphia kinda ran into when they kicked the tires there.

It makes a ton of sense why George wouldn’t want to leave the West Coast. He’s an LA native so even if he does leave the Clippers, he would likely want to stay close to home. The Sixers could throw a bunch of money at him in free agency if he does go that route, but it’s tough to see him want to go to the East Coast at this stage of his career.
