[autotag]Belal Muhammad[/autotag] has an explanation for why he’s ranked higher than [autotag]Gilbert Burns[/autotag].
During UFC 283 media day, Burns took issue with Muhammad being higher than him in the UFC’s official welterweight standings. Muhammad is unbeaten in his past nine fights and most recently bounced Sean Brady out of the ranks of the unbeaten with a second-round TKO.
“How the heck Belal Muhammed beat Sean Brady – I have nothing to do with that – and he passes me in the rankings?” Burns said. “I got it: OK, he’s got a couple wins. But he never beat me. Why did he take my place?”
Burns (20-5 MMA, 13-5 UFC), who initially angled for a fight with Jorge Masvidal, also claimed Muhammad turned him down for a fight at UFC 283. Burns faces Neil Magny in Saturday’s co-main event at Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on ABC and early prelims on ESPN+.
Muhammad responded to Burns and pointed to their recent resumes.
“Lol because u have one ranked win and I have 4 ….and u begged for the masvidal fight for the last 7 months.”

Another fighter who mentioned Muhammad’s name is Burns’ opponent Magny (27-9 MMA, 20-8 UFC), who hopes to fight Muhammad with a win over “Durinho.”
Muhammad only could laugh off Magny’s callout.
“they all got my name in their mouth now.”
