Behind Enemy Lines: What to know about Indiana from a Hoosiers insider

Behind Enemy Lines: Getting an insider point of view on Indiana with Kevin Brockway

What did you take away from how the game ended last year when the two teams played, did the refs make the right call?

Kevin: I thought replays showed the ball short-hopped before it hit the pylon. But sometimes in life, you get breaks. Indiana put itself in a position to win and took advantage of its opportunities to get to that point. Plus, it was a gutsy call by Indiana coach Tom Allen to go for 2, and it paid off.

What is one reason why Indiana pulls the upset over undefeated Penn State?

Kevin: If Indiana can force turnovers, possibly make Sean Clifford uncomfortable and throw interceptions, it has a chance. Clifford’s two interceptions last year allowed the Hoosiers to build an early lead. Indiana’s front seven has been bolstered by the addition of defensive end Ryder Anderson, a grad transfer from Ole Miss who has three sacks in four games. Linebacker Micah McFadden is another playmaker in the front seven as well. Both players are capable of getting to the quarterback and forcing Clifford into mistakes.

Nittany Lions Wire staff predictions: Penn State or Indiana in Week 5?

How do you think Indiana will handle the night game atmosphere with 107,000 in attendance and the stripe out at Beaver Stadium?

Kevin: Interesting you ask because I asked Tom Allen the same question on Thursday. They’ve been piping in crowd noise all week in practice. Indiana has already played in front of close to 70,000 at Kinnick Stadium in its season opener at Iowa, and 25,000 at Western Kentucky. Maintaining communication will be important. The crowd played a role in Iowa’s opening touchdown against Indiana, a 56-yard touchdown run by Tyler Goodson, because Indiana’s defense was not lined up correctly due to a communication breakdown.
