The Kentucky Wildcats men’s basketball team halted a three-game home losing streak on Tuesday against Ole Miss. Not coincidentally, they also played their best defensive game of the season.
SEC play has been a struggle for the Wildcats as opponents have routinely taken advantage of a young and mistake-prone defense. Rebounding has also been a problem, with too many second-chance points allowed. On Tuesday, though, Kentucky did a much better job in both areas, and got a big win.
On Saturday, a huge game looms with the Auburn Tigers. Kentucky comes in ranked 20th in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll despite their recent issues.
Auburn is ranked 12th, and has a 19 – 5 overall record. They’ve been good in SEC play, with a 9 – 3 record there. If Kentucky wants to get a win, they’ll have to be at their best.
