Despite losing to Alabama and forfeiting whatever remaining chances they had at making the College Football Playoff, it’s not all bad news for the Gators. They’re back in a New Year’s Six Bowl this year for the third time in as many years, and coach Dan Mullen will look to capture his third-straight win.
This is perhaps Florida’s toughest New Year’s Six opponent yet, though, and it’s the first conference champion it’s faced in the postseason under Mullen.
The Gators take on Big 12 champions Oklahoma in the Cotton Bowl on Saturday. The Sooners have won seven straight games after starting the season 1-2, and they captured their sixth-consecutive conference title.
