When football season officially begins, there’s nothing like having a cold drink in your hand while watching your favorite team on a Sunday afternoon. Or enjoying a beer with your friends during a tailgating party, patiently waiting for the game to begin. For fans of the Chicago Bears, though, chances are they’re drinking more than a couple when their team is involved.
Sportshandle.com, a legal sports betting site, recently surveyed more than 2,000 fans over the age of 21 of all NFL teams to determine which fanbase, on average, consumes the most alcoholic beverages during the game and at a tailgate.
The Bears fanbase finished in a tie for third place with the Buffalo Bills, averaging 4.5 drinks per game. Only Cincinnati Bengals fans (5.2) and Baltimore Ravens fans (4.7) ranked higher.
According to a survey done by SportsHandle:
1) Chicago Bears fans are ranked fourth in the NFL as the “booziest” fans, averaging 4.5 drinks per game.
2) Bears fans were also ranked fourth in the NFL for being the biggest pregamers.

Those drinks don’t come cheap either, as Bears fans reportedly spend an average of $58.12 on alcoholic beverages, second-most among all fanbases.
The party isn’t just confined to the game, as 72% of Bears fans surveyed said they’re most likely to drink prior to the game kicking off. That percentage is the fourth-highest behind fans of the Bills (83%), Carolina Panthers (81%), and Atlanta Falcons (74%).
Are the numbers higher for Bears fans due to the team’s performance? Or maybe just the atmosphere of a packed bar or gathering with friends? Regardless, with fans expected back at Soldier Field in just a couple of weeks for the first time since 2019, you can bet that many drinks will be consumed when the Bears take on the Miami Dolphins in the preseason opener.
As always, it’s important Bears fans drink responsibly before and during games.
