Bears WR DJ Moore reveals how he learned about trade from Panthers

Ironically enough, former Panthers WR DJ Moore was picking up packages the moment he learned that he was actually a part of one.

Last Friday night, DJ Moore took a stroll down his driveway to pick up some packages. But in a cruel twist of fate, he’d actually become part of one in that very moment.

The new Chicago Bears wide receiver was welcomed to the Windy City on Thursday, talking to media for the first time since being traded by the Carolina Panthers. When asked how he learned of the shocking swap, Moore said this:

“I learned about it through a phone call with the Panthers. I was going to pick up packages and was coming down my driveway and got the call from the Panthers saying that I’ve been traded along with a bunch of picks. And then . . . on from there. And then I had got calls from this whole organization with love. So, now I’m here.”

Moore was shipped away, along with a batch of high-end draft capital, for the first overall pick of the 2023 NFL draft. Equipped with the five-year veteran came this year’s ninth overall selection, the 61st overall selection, a 2024 first-rounder and a 2025 second-rounder.

So, how did he feel about the move?

“Wasn’t too hard,” he said. “I was just like, ‘Alright, whatever.’ At that point, once I got traded. I don’t really dwell on things too long. So once it happened, I was like, ‘Alright, forget it.’ On to a new journey.”

The 25-year-old was then asked what he’ll miss most about Charlotte.

“Houses,” he said with a smile. “That’s a major difference out here—is the houses.”

Well, he’s going to have a new home now. But maybe, wherever his house may be, it’ll be someone else’s job to go pick up the packages.
