The 2021 NFL draft weekend is off to an insane start — and it doesn’t even involve the actual draft. Just hours before the first round kicks off comes news that has Chicago Bears fans celebrating and sighing in relief.
Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is so “disgruntled” with the Packers organization that he doesn’t want to return to the team, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, who first reported the news.
It wasn’t hard to see the writing on the wall, which goes back to last year’s draft when the Packers drafted quarterback Jordan Love in the first round rather than get Rodgers some much-needed help on offense.
As you can imagine, Bears fans had quite the reaction to Rodgers wanting out of Green Bay. And they didn’t even bother trying to hide their excitement. Some fans were celebrating Christmas come early while others were dreaming of a world where Chicago manages to trade for Rodgers and rewrite the narrative surrounding their cursed quarterback franchise.
If Rodgers does indeed get his wish — and out of Green Bay, and likely the division — that would leave the NFC North wide open. Which is even more reason for Bears GM Ryan Pace to take a swing at a franchise quarterback in Round 1.
