Bears to sign FB Khari Blasingame

ALERT: The Bears are signing a fullback! Khari Blasingame announced he’ll be joining Chicago.

The Chicago Bears are signing former Tennessee Titans fullback Khari Blasingame, according to Blasingame’s Instagram.

Blasingame, an undrafted free agent by the Minnesota Vikings, joined the Titans in Nov. 2019. He appeared in the final six regular season games and three postseason contests with Tennessee.

Blasingame, 25, has appeared in 26 games over the last two seasons with the Titans. During his three years in Tennessee, he finished with three carries for six yards and 10 catches for 97 yards.

While Blasingame was the Titans’ primary fullback since his arrival, he fell down the depth chart in favor of undrafted rookie Tory Carter. Blasingame was limited to 11 games due to injury while Carter stepped into the starting role.

The Bears haven’t had a fullback since the 2017 season under head coach John Fox and offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains. Former Bears head coach Matt Nagy, who wasn’t a notable fan of running the ball, never employed a fullback on the roster. Although former Bears tight end J.P. Holtz normally filled the role on occasion.
