The Chicago Bears finally snapped their 14-game losing streak in an exciting 40-20 victory over the Washington Commanders on Thursday Night Football.
Even after that win, the Bears still currently hold the top two picks in the 2024 NFL draft, according to Tankathon.
Only this time, it’s the Carolina Panthers’ first-round pick — that belongs to Chicago — holding the top spot. The Bears’ selection is currently No. 2 overall.
It’s still too early to predict how this season will unfold, including if Chicago ultimately lands the No. 1 pick. If they do, what would it mean for the Bears in the draft? If Justin Fields continues to progress, Chicago could find themselves in a similar position as last year — fielding calls for the No. 1 pick. Or, if Fields doesn’t prove to be the guy, it could be the Caleb Williams Show.
The Panthers, who were blown out by the Detroit Lions, are the only winless team left in the NFL. And with the Miami Dolphins on deck, that probably won’t change anytime soon.
DJ Moore and the currently-projected top selection in next year’s draft? Safe to say the Bears are quite thankful for the Panthers right now.
