Coaches are always on the hot seat and quarterbacks will be given short leashes.
There’s no other quarterback in the NFL who’ll have more pressure to play well this season than Chicago’s Mitch Trubisky who had a crummy 2019 campaign, to put it mildly.
Despite that, Bears head coach Matt Nagy, whose job could be in final-season jeopardy, is set to name his sarting quarterback for their Sept. 13 opener against the Lions, according to Adam Schefter — and it’s Trubisky.

Nick Foles, who the Bears traded for this offseason, will serve as the Bears’ backup QB, but many expected Foles to win the starting job.
Last season, Trubisky threw for only 3,138 yards and 17 touchdowns in 15 starts.
Fans and pundits alike were not impressed, especially — as Bears fans DO NOT’ like to be reminded — Bears general manager Ryan Pace gave up multiple draft picks to the 49ers in order to move up one spot to take him second overall in the 2017 NFL Draft.
Pace most certainly will be gone after this season if Trubisky doesn’t play reasonably well.
Whaddaya think Bears fans? Happy with this?
Heh. The knives-are-out tweets should be rolling in soon.
