Bears safety Eddie Jackson wins 2023 Jeff Dickerson Good Guy award

Bears safety Eddie Jackson was named the recipient of the Jeff Dickerson Good Guy Award.

Every year since 2013, members of Pro Football Writers of America’s Chicago chapter elect their Bears/Jeff Dickerson Good Guy award winner, the player that is most cooperative with the media.

This year’s winner is safety Eddie Jackson.

The award was renamed in honor of Dickerson, a Bears ESPN reporter, who passed away two years ago Thursday due to cancer.

“I’d like to thank everyone in here,” Jackson told reporters Thursday. “Also Jeff, the times I met him, he was a nice, humble guy. Always asked the right, positive questions. Us, as players, we’re always thankful for that.

“To his family, I just want to say thank you guys for being here. It means a lot. Like I said, the times I met your son, it was always a great conversation. He was a very humble, nice, respectful guy. You guys did a fine job of raising him. So I’m honored to accept this award.”

Past winners include Cole Kmet (2022), Robert Quinn and Tashaun Gipson Sr. (2021), Allen Robinson (2019), Prince Amukamara (2018), Zach Miller (2017), Tracy Porter (2016), Matt Slauson (2015), Ryan Mundy (2014) and Josh McCown (2013).
