Bears safety Eddie Jackson activated off non-football injury list and will begin practicing

The Bears got some good news as safety Eddie Jackson will be activated off the non-football injury list and begin practicing.

The Chicago Bears have been ravaged by injuries over the last week of training camp, but there’s some good news ahead of Tuesday’s practice.

Matt Nagy announced that safety Eddie Jackson will be activated off the non-football injury (NFI) list and begin practicing for the first time since the start fo training camp.

Jackson had been nursing a hamstring injury that’s believed to have happened away from the team, per the NFI designation.

With Jackson’s return, the Bears get back one of their starting safeties as both he and Tashaun Gipson (groin) had been sidelined with injuries.

In other injury news, linebacker Danny Trevathan (knee) and wide receiver Marquise Goodwin (foot contusion) will not practice on Tuesday.

The Bears are also getting back offensive tackle Lachavious Simmons, linebacker Christian Jones and long snapper Patrick Scales, who were all placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list last Tuesday. Nose tackle Eddie Goldman remains on the list.

As for offensive tackle Teven Jenkins, Nagy said it’s “the same at where we were a week ago.” Which isn’t encouraging given Chicago’s projected starting left tackle has yet to practice and doesn’t appear close.
