Bears quarterback Justin Fields is entering an important third season, where he’s looking to take the next step forward in his game.

Following an impressive 2022 campaign where he emerged as arguably the NFL’s most dangerous running quarterback, the next step is making strides in the passing game.

With the Bears in the middle of their offseason program, Fields revealed which aspect of the passing game he’s focused on improving.

“Just being more consistent with my quick game stuff,” Fields said, via ChicagoBears.com. “I feel like down the field I’m pretty accurate. Just being more consistent with getting the ball out faster, being more accurate, giving my wide receivers, my running backs, tight ends a better chance to catch the ball and run for extra yards. I’m focusing pretty hard on that this offseason.”

Chicago had the worst passing game in the NFL last season, for a number of reasons. While Fields himself was partially to blame, it didn’t help that the Bears had a weak supporting cast and an offensive line that struggled keeping Fields upright.

This offseason, Chicago has upgraded the skill position players, including adding a true WR1 in DJ Moore, and added some new pieces to the offensive line with Nate Davis and rookie Darnell Wright. Now the onus is on Fields to take that next step forward.
