Bears rookie quarterback Justin Fields was slated to return to the starting lineup for Sunday’s finale against the Vikings. But it doesn’t seem like Fields is meant to play again this season.
The Bears have placed Fields on the reserve/COVID-19 list on Thursday, almost certainly knocking him out of Sunday’s game.
While Fields is vaccinated, he would need to have two negative tests at least 24 hours apart in order to return to the lineup. Given the timing, there’s simply not enough time for him to return.
With that said, it looks like we’re in for one more game with Andy Dalton as the starter before he hits free agency this offseason.
