The Chicago Bears are coming off an unimpressive 2019 season where they finished at .500 just one season after they made the playoffs at 12-4.
To say that last season was disappointing would be an understatement. And, given the changes made this offseason, the expectation appears to be to prevent that from happening again.
Despite some changes made in free agency, including the additions of pass rusher Robert Quinn, quarterback Nick Foles and tight end Jimmy Graham, eight wins continues to be the expectation for Chicago in 2020.
At BetMGM, the Bears’ projected win total is only 8 games. The over has a line of -106, meaning you’d have to bet $106 to win $100. The under is set at -115, so you’d have to bet $115 to win $100.
While the defense has lost some key contributors, including Nick Kwiatkoski, Nick Williams and Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, they managed to re-sign Eddie Jackson and Danny Trevathan, while maintaining the core of the Bears’ dominant defense.
Defense isn’t the reason the Bears are projected to win eight games. It’s the offense, which was among the worst in the NFL a season ago.
With the addition of Foles, Mitchell Trubisky has been put on notice, and the two will battle for the starting job. But the offense’s failures were bigger than one person.
Unfortunately, there’s still the issue of the struggling offensive line, ineffective tight ends and non-existent run game that will be some of the biggest questions for Chicago.
Until the Bears get some answers on offense, don’t expect confidence to be high surrounding Chicago.
