The Chicago Bears have been busy during the first wave of NFL free agency, where they’ve made some solid moves for the offense and defense.
Meanwhile, quarterback Justin Fields has been hard at work this offseason, training with teammate Darnell Mooney, among others. Now, Fields is training with other quarterbacks, including notably Colin Kaepernick.
Kaepernick hasn’t played in an NFL game in five years, but that hasn’t stopped him from staying in shape and ready for an NFL team that’s willing to take a chance on him.
Kapepernick has recently been training with NFL players across the country, including in Arizona with Seahawks wide receiver Tyler Lockett and in Texas with Eagles wide receiver Jalen Reagor. His latest stop was in Atlanta with Fields, Giants quarterback Tyrod Taylor and Steelers quarterback Josh Dobbs.
One thing that you CAN’T say about Justin Fields is that he’s not putting in the work to get better. Fields working out w/ Colin Kaepernick, Tyrod Taylor and Josh Dobbs yesterday. #Bears pic.twitter.com/07J3HQ1jbt

The video shows Bears tight end Cole Kmet also in attendance, where he was catching passes from Fields.
Fields is heading into his second NFL season and first full offseason where he’s preparing as the Bears’ starting quarterback. Following a rocky rookie season, the expectation is Fields will take a big step forward in his development in Year 2.
He’ll be working under new offensive coordinator Luke Getsy, who’s already promised to build the offense around Fields and his strengths. General manager Ryan Poles has started building around Fields, as well, with some free agent additions in center Lucas Patrick and wide receivers Byron Pringle and Equanimeous St. Brown. There are plenty of more moves on the way.
For the Bears to be successful, Fields needs to thrive.
