The Chicago Bears just wrapped a disappointing 2021 season. But wide receiver Darnell Mooney is wasting no time getting back to work for the 2022 season.
Following Sunday’s loss to the Minnesota Vikings, Mooney was asked about when he would start training for next season. And his answer was enough to have Bears fans hopeful for a more promising 2022 season.
Mooney said he and quarterback Justin Fields are going to start offseason work Monday following the team’s exit interviews. Mooney and Fields are headed to Florida to begin training within the next couple of days.
“We’re starting tomorrow,” Mooney said immediately after the game.

Fields and Mooney are two of several reasons why Bears fans should be excited heading into 2022, as they’re two young players with high ceilings. Just think what they can accomplish with an offensive guru in place.
While we caught a glimpse of the threat the Fields-to-Mooney connection can be, the pair didn’t have an opportunity to develop chemistry during training camp, as Fields was relegated to backup quarterback.
Now, the pair will have an entire offseason to train together and further develop that chemistry, and we should see the benefit of those reps when the Bears take the field in 2022.
