Is Caleb Williams impressing the people who follow the Chicago Bears closely? More importantly, is the rookie impressing the Bears themselves, coaches and players alike? It’s early, and we haven’t seen Caleb play in a live preseason NFL game just yet, but the first indications are good. Bears Wire has more on this:
Everything is in place for him to succeed, and the early reports out of training camp have been positive (which is rare for this time of year). Williams has been slowly taking control of new offensive coordinator Shane Waldron’s system, establishing cadences, and spitting the plays back out in the huddle, and his teammates have been noticing. The ball is coming out of his hands quickly, and he’s doing everything he’s supposed to be doing entering his first season. Williams doesn’t need to break NFL rookie records, but he does need to break the Bears ones. All he needs to do is pass for 2,200 yards and 12 touchdowns to accomplish such a feat. We may not know for sure if Williams is 100% the answer at quarterback his rookie season, but a strong year will go a long way in determining that.
