The start of the 2020 NFL regular season is still a couple months away, but there are still some questions about how the season will look. NFL teams have been making decisions about fan attendance at stadiums, with some limiting capacity and others closing stadiums to fans entirely.
The state of Illinois is in Phase 4 of their reopening plan, which limits outdoor gatherings to 50 people. Although for larger outdoor facilities, they can have multiple gatherings of 50 people, given social distancing guidelines are followed. So it would be possible for the Chicago Bears to have fans at their games this season.
But the Bears haven’t made a decision about fan attendance at Soldier Field just yet, although they recently sent out an email to season ticket holders regarding full refunds for the 2020 season.
If a limited number of fans will be allowed at Soldier Field this season, they will be required to wear a face covering, as confirmed by NFL Vice President of Communications Brian McCarthy.

If fans are allowed at Soldier Field, their home opener would be in Week 2 against the New York Giants on Sept. 20.
With the Bears set to begin training camp next week, expect to hear whether the team will allow fans at Soldier Field in the coming weeks.
