Bears DL Akiem Hicks returns to practice

The Bears welcomed back Pro-Bowl DL Akiem Hicks to practice on Sunday as he recovers from a dislocated elbow. Hicks can return in Week 15.

The Chicago Bears prepare to face the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday, they welcomed back Pro Bowl defensive lineman Akiem Hicks to practice Sunday.

Hicks, who dislocated his elbow against the Oakland Raiders on Oct. 6, was placed on injured reserve Oct. 15. He began his journey back to the lineup with a return to practice, which could culminate in a return against the Green Bay Packers in Week 15.

Bears coach Matt Nagy said that Hicks wasn’t able to do “a whole lot” during practice, but the practice was light on Sunday.

“It’s nice to see him out there on the field,” Nagy said. “He’s been on the sidelines … He’s never left us. We’ve felt him.”

According to the Sun-Times, Hicks was suited up but sitting on the bench during the portion of practice open to the media.

Nagy said that, regardless of whether the Bears win or lose against the Cowboys on Thursday, as long as Hicks is healthy and ready to play that he’ll play against the Packers on Dec. 15.

With four games remaining, the Bears are clinging to slim playoff chances at 6-6. They need a lot of help, but they’ll also need to win out if they have a chance of earning a Wild Card berth.
