The Chicago Bears currently sit at 4-9 with four games left this season, where a losing record is guaranteed and a playoff spot is all but hopeless at this point.
This is usually the time when frustrations mount in the locker room. But is that the case for Matt Nagy’s Bears?
Cornerback Jaylon Johnson, who’s been one of the few bright spots on defense this season, appeared on Red Line Radio, where he was asked about the morale in the Bears locker room.
“I mean, you have a little bit off both,” Johnson said on Red Line Radio. “You have the side of the locker room that is starting to go into the tank and you have the guys that are still trying to fight and figure out how we can get better. I mean, at the end of the day, that’s the name of the game is trying to get better each and every week and then just being able to put four quarters of football together.
“It’s not about one quarter being good at some times and at moments, but really being able to figure out how we can be good for four quarters and find ways to win football games. But, I mean, you definitely have the ups and downs in the locker room as expected, but just being able to keep as many guys as we can together and keep fighting for wins.”
Well, so much for Nagy not losing the locker room.
Those are pretty damning words from Johnson, who has made his feelings about Nagy perfectly clear this season. But it’s also Johnson calling out some of his teammates who have apparently given up with four games left to go.
But it’s also not unexpected at this point as the losses continue to mount — only this season, there’s no .500 record or playoff berth waiting for them.
