Bears’ Byron Pringle sees Justin Fields being ‘elite’ quarterback

New Bears WR Byron Pringle is a big fan of Justin Fields, who he sees as “an elite quarterback.”

The Chicago Bears are looking to build around quarterback Justin Fields this offseason. They’ve made a few additions in free agency to start, including signing center Lucas Patrick and wide receivers Byron Pringle and Equanimeous St. Brown.

Pringle is an intriguing option at wide receiver, as he’s someone who was buried on Kansas City’s depth chart but showed promise as a playmaker in the Chiefs’ offense.

And it sounds like the allure of playing with Fields was enough to gauge Pringle’s interest. Pringle said he believes Fields will be “an elite quarterback” and that’s one of the reasons why he decided to join the Bears.

“Justin Fields, I see him as an elite quarterback,” Pringle said. “He definitely knows how to extend plays, and that is something that I did in Kansas City [with Patrick Mahomes]. When the play broke down, I always tried to get in the quarterback’s vision. So with [Fields] being able to keep plays and drives alive, I know I fit perfect in this offense, especially with a quarterback like Justin Fields.”

Bears general manager Ryan Poles knows Pringle well from his time in Kansas City, and Pringle climbed the depth chart with the Chiefs. He’s been productive in a reserve role in one of the league’s best offenses, and he has the chance to break out with the Bears.
