Tennessee Titans great and current Tennessee State head coach Eddie George will get a taste of NFL coaching this offseason with the Chicago Bears as part of the Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship.
The Bears announced this week that George and Florida State co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach, Randy Shannon, will be taking part in the fellowship and joining the team’s staff for organized team activities.
Per the announcement, the program’s goal is to “use NFL club’s training camps to give coaches and scouts opportunities to observe, participate, gain experience and ultimately gain a full-time NFL coaching position.”
A decade and a half after his playing career was over, George made his first foray into coaching in 2021 when he landed the head role at Tennessee State, where he has compiled a 9-13 record over two seasons.
Back in January, George was the head coach of the National Team at the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl, squaring off against Jeff Fisher, who led the American Team.
