Baseball fans made so many jokes after MLB teased news with a cryptic moon tweet

Baseball on the moon?

Major League Baseball teased an upcoming announcement Tuesday with a cryptic tweet captioned: “Big things coming.”

At this point, no one really knows what this means, except that whatever MLB plans to announce Wednesday might possibly maybe have something to do with the moon, which, in the mysterious tweet, was edited to look like a baseball hovering over the date, 6.23.21.

As a few people on Twitter noted, this big announcement could be related to the Field of Dreams game because the ball/moon thing kind of resembles the backdrop of the 1989 movie’s cover and posters. (After the Field of Dreams game was postponed in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Chicago White Sox and the New York Yankees will play on August 12 in Iowa.)

But more than educated guesses about what on earth this tweet means, we’re here for all the moon jokes.

And to be sure, while plenty of people took shots at MLB commissioner Rob Manfred, foreign substances and a few teams, they had so many good moon jokes.
