The Cleveland Browns are in desperate need of some good news. While the only news that will ultimately matter is the scoreboard after each game for the rest of 2021, little pieces will be helpful.
Thursday, the team got a couple of those little pieces of good news.
Quarterback Baker Mayfield, limited by three different injuries was able to return to practice on Thursday. Offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt stated that Wednesday was a chance for Mayfield to rest up his injuries some before returning to practice in preparation for Week 11’s matchup with the Detroit Lions.
The Browns also got running back John Kelly back as he was activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list on Thursday as well. Kelly joins D’Ernest Johnson as the team’s lone two active running backs right now. According to Van Pelt, Chubb is trending in the right direction to be active for Sunday
Kelly was placed lost to the COVID list a day prior to Chubb and Demetric Felton. If the latter two backs have the same length on the list, they would return to practice on Friday. That is not certain.
