The Cleveland Browns have until 2 PM today to set their roster for their Monday afternoon game with the Las Vegas Raiders. A wide variety of players have a chance to come off the reserve/COVID-19 list but depend on three factors:
- Vaccination status – From the Browns report, the players on the list were all vaccinated.
- No symptoms – This likely rules out Jadeveon Clowney who had symptoms all week. Uncertain how many others had symptoms.
- Negative COVID test – The NFL made the threshold for a negative test easier to achieve (think lower viral load) but players’ tests still need to be negative for them to return for today’s game.
Baker Mayfield, one of the many players on the reserve list, posted last night that he met the second criteria, symptom-free, and has noted he is vaccinated. That just leaves the need for the third criteria, as Mayfield noted in his Instagram story:
Like Mayfield, now we wait for more information from the team or the players themselves through social media. 2 PM remains the deadline so testing could occur all the way up until just before that, leaving enough time to get the results back before the deadline.
We will keep you up to date as the information becomes available.
