Baker Mayfield opens at 15th in the 2020 NFL MVP odds

Mayfield ranks pretty high in the MVP odds considering his 2019 season

The opening 2020 NFL MVP odds have been released courtesy of BetMGM. Despite a sub-par sophomore campaign from Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield, he comes in at 40-to-1 odds and 16th on the list, just behind a large group that includes Tom Brady and Super Bowl runner-up Jimmy Garappolo and ahead of AFC North rival Ben Roethlisberger.

Mayfield finished 31st in the NFL in completion percentage while throwing 22 touchdowns and 21 interceptions in 2019. He also finished 31st in passer rating with a 78.8. Many have put Mayfield’s year two struggles on recently dismissed head coach, Freddie Kitchens.

The Browns hope that the arrival of new head coach Kevin Stefanski will help Mayfield rediscover the form he enjoyed during his rookie season. Veteran quarterback Kurt Cousins benefited from his time in Stefanski’s offense last season.
