The Tampa Bay Buccaneers beat the reigning NFC Champions in the playoffs last year when they sent the Philadelphia Eagles home. That win secured them a matchup with the team of destiny, the Detroit Lions. They went on the road, gave them everything they could, and nearly pulled out a victory.
Fast-forward to Week 2 of the 2024 season, and the Bucs are ready to get revenge on the Lions.
When speaking to the media on Wednesday, quarterback Baker Mayfield said the team was not treating this like any other game. He went as far as to say that whenever Detroit is discussed, “the memories instantly pop up, and our guys are ready.”
The Bucs have a chance to be one of the best teams in the NFC in 2024, and beyond. The Detroit Lions are also built for immediate and long-term success. This could be the second installment in a long rivalry between the two, and getting a look from the Bucs this early in the season would allow us all to project how the rest of these is going to go.
