With just a few weeks remaining until the Badgers take the field for their home opener against Illinois State, preseason watch lists continue to take shape.
Herbig, who led all Big Ten edge rushers in pass rush win rate last season (27.3%), was named to the Bednarik Award Watch List for the upcoming season.
The Bednarik Award is presented annually to the best defensive player in college football, judged by the Maxwell Football Club.
The Hawaii native had a breakout sophomore season, totaling 57 tackles, 37 pressures, nine sacks, and six QB hits.
Now, entering his junior season, he’s the face of Jim Leonhard’s defensive unit, who lost eight starters off the nation’s top-ranked defense in 2021.
