Auburn’s Legends Classic opponents, dates revealed

Auburn will face a solid slate of opponents during the Legends Classic at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York this season.

Auburn basketball’s official nonconference schedule has not been released, but it is continuing to become clearer with each passing day.

Jon Rothstein of College Hoops Today and CBS Sports has reported that Auburn will compete in the 2023 Legends Classic at Barclays Center, home of the NBA’s Brooklyn Nets. While in Brooklyn, Auburn will face Notre Dame to open the classic on Nov. 16, and will face either St. Bonaventure or Oklahoma State on Nov. 17.

The Fighting Irish finished with a disappointing 11-21 record last season, with a 3-17 mark in ACC play. This season’s roster features just two seniors and will miss several of their leading scorers from last season’s team.

Oklahoma State had a much better output last season by finishing with a 20-16 record and an appearance in the National Invitational Tournament. The Cowboys’ season ended with a 65-59 overtime loss to NIT champion North Texas in the third round. St. Bonaventure finished 14-18 last season.

The pairing of Oklahoma State/St. Bonaventure and Notre Dame adds to an already stacked nonconference schedule. In addition to the Cowboys and Fighting Irish, Auburn will take on Baylor on Nov. 7 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Virginia Tech as part of the ACC/SEC Challenge, and Indiana as part of Holiday Hoopsgiving in Atlanta on Dec. 9.
