On Monday, Auburn Basketball’s Twitter account announced that Auburn wing Allen Flanigan would be attending the 2022 NBA G-League Elite Camp. The camp will take place from May 16-17 at Wintrust Arena in Chicago, Illinois.
The NBA G-League Elite Camp invites 44 prospects that have been selected. Those prospects will then get the opportunity to put their skillset on display in front of NBA scouts. NBA G-League scouts will also be in attendance for the event. The event is designed for a select few of these players to participate in the NBA’s Draft Combine that will begin on May 18th and carry on until May 22nd. Several players in the past like Mac McClung, Jose Alvarado, and Terrance Mann all competed in the event when they entered the NBA draft.
Flanigan has the possibility of earning an invite to the NBA draft combine if he performs well at the camp. While he declared for the draft, he also maintained his eligibility by not signing with an agent. Meaning that his return to Auburn is still an option. Many believe that Flanigan will return to the Plains for his senior season in 2022. His father, Wes, is a coach on Auburn’s staff. That could certainly sway Flanigan back to Auburn if the draft process doesn’t go smoothly. We will have to wait and see what the Arkansas native decides.
The deadline to make a decision for players that entered the draft while maintaining their college eligibility is set for June 1st. That means that Flanigan has until then to make a decision.
